Auntie Litter Mission: To search out and
locate ideas about how to prevent littering as an activity
and to encourage public clean up of litter as a continuous
activity. A team of three agents, a.k.a. "Aunties", gave presentations
to young people and surveyed a community about how they feel
about litter. The project culminated in a one-day litter
cleanup and analysis, conducted by Auntie Litter Brigades
volunteers. Read the final report here. |

Focus The Nation: My Climate, Your Climate, Our Change The King's University College's
Environmental Studies graduating class of 2008 worked to raise
awareness and implement action on climate change in the Christian
community.
This awareness
project was modelled from the Focus the Nation event which
occurred in the US on January 31, 2008. Focus the
Nation is a project
in which Colleges and Universities are all working to recognize
climate change and challenge their communities to act.
The agents' one-day series of events dubbed “My Climate. Your
Climate. Our Change.” brought the matter of environmental care
to the attention of a variety of audiences. Read the final report

Don't Tread On Me Utilizing the power of technology
and direct connection with participants, this agent was able
to engage students and the public at large about the issues
surrounding environmental sustainability. An information
booth was set
up at the
University of Alberta's Students
Union
building that asked students to take an online test, known
as an Environmental Footprint Analysis. Information was then
provided about what the principles of environmental sustainability
were and a 9 point checklist was given to participants who
wished to reduce their personal impact on the planet through
adopting easy
and available solutions. Read the final report here. |

Sustainable MRC The Sustainable MRC project took a diverse approach to engaging students at Mount Royal College in the issues and information surrounding sustainable practices. Through a series of events targeted at sharing information and raising funds to offset the massive ecological footprint of our student centre, the group strove to engage the student body in learning about sustainability while having fun. Three events served as the primary vehicles for achieving these goals: a multi-day sustainability-themed film festival, a resource and food fair showcasing local vendors and allowing students to enjoy some tasty organic foods, and a full afternoon/evening concert with 9 of Calgary’s hottest local bands, musical acts, and performers.
